A 36-year-old man, an Italian citizen, was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend during the celebration of Valentine's Day at a nightclub in Polanco, Mexico City. After an argument, the 25-year-old woman sustained head injuries due to the blows received. The couple was intervened by the police at the intersection of Homero Avenue and Socrates Street, in the Polanco neighborhood. The Citizen Security Secretariat reported that the man was violent towards the woman, who suffered both physical and verbal assaults.
The SSC communicated that after the arrest, the attacker was taken to the Public Ministry, and the woman received medical attention. Despite the police intervention and attempts to provide assistance, the victim refused to be evaluated and expressed her intention to take legal action against her attacker. Photos shared on social media showed marks on the woman's neck, raising suspicions of an attempted strangulation by the man, who was under the influence of some substance.
On the other hand, a presumed attempted femicide has been reported near the Insurgentes Sur Metro station in Mexico City. Initially reported as an attempted robbery, the Citizen Security Secretariat later clarified that it was an attack in which the aggressor resulted in death. Two police officers intervened upon witnessing a scuffle between a couple in the Insurgentes Mixcoac area, triggering an armed confrontation with the aggressor, who was pointing a homemade weapon at the officers.
The security secretary explained that, according to initial investigations, it is more of an assault in the context of an affectionate relationship than an attempted robbery. It is suspected that the attack may have been an attempted femicide, given the circumstances and the aggressor's background. The involved woman, 40 years old, was injured in the head due to the violence suffered. Authorities continue investigating the case and have requested that it be classified as an attempted femicide due to the seriousness of the events.
